Is it worth repairing the heater or should I replace it?
If the fault is the element, the thermostat or the anode and the tank is sound, repairing is worth it. If limescale has perforated the tank there is no fix: we install a new one the same day at a fixed price, appliance included if you want.
How long does an electric water heater last in Mallorca?
Because of the hard water, considerably less than on the mainland: 8 to 12 years with servicing, and less if the magnesium anode is never changed. Regular servicing adds several years.
Can you install a new water heater today?
Yes. We carry heaters in the most common sizes and, if you call in the morning, we normally have it installed and running the same day, with the old unit taken away.

Electric water heater repair in Palma de Mallorca
Palma is where we replace the most heaters, and nearly always for the same reason: limescale. The city water is hard, the element becomes coated, the heater takes longer and longer to warm up, and in the end either the RCD trips or water appears underneath the unit.

My heater in Palma barely heats and takes ages. What is usually wrong?
Almost always limescale built up on the element. Palma water is hard and the scale acts as insulation: the element draws the same power but heats less. The fix is cleaning the tank and replacing the element and the anode. If it keeps happening, the answer is a water softener.
How long does replacing an electric water heater take?
One to one and a half hours if the existing installation is sound and no pipework needs moving. That includes draining and removing the old unit, fitting the new one with new flexible hoses and safety valve, and a leak test before we leave.
Do you repair immersion heaters?
Yes. An immersion heater is what most British customers call the electric water heater, and it is one of the jobs we do most often on the island. If it has stopped heating, trips the breaker or is leaking, we usually sort it the same day. The usual culprits are the element, the thermostat or the sacrificial anode — all of which are affected by how hard the water is here.
Is it worth repairing an old water heater or should I replace it?
We tell you with the unit in front of us and both prices on the table. If it is the element, the thermostat or the anode, repair almost always makes sense. If the tank itself has corroded through and is leaking from underneath, it does not: a perforated cylinder cannot be repaired.
